Consultancy & Training
Research you can stand behind.
I help organisations answer hard questions about inequality: whether a programme is working, what's really happening in a community, and how to measure what matters.
I've led research functions at Black Thrive and the RSA and helped win £4.3m in research funding. I take a project from question to findings, and bring in specialist expertise when a study needs it.
Discuss a projectWhat I do
Evaluation
Process, impact and theory-based evaluation of programmes and services, proportionate to the question and the budget. Evaluation frameworks, logic models and learning partnerships.
Community and applied research
Mixed-methods studies that combine qualitative work (interviews, focus groups, participatory methods) with quantitative analysis of surveys and administrative data. Particular depth in work with marginalisation, especially related to Race and Class.
Measurement and equalities data
Advice on collecting, categorising and analysing data on race, ethnicity and other characteristics, so your evidence reflects the people it describes.
Evidence reviews and synthesis
Rapid and narrative reviews that tell you what is known, how confident you can be, and what it means for your decisions.
Research strategy and capability
Setting up or strengthening a research function: strategy, ethics and data protection processes, commissioning, and building in-house skills. I also help you recruit the right people, from writing role descriptions to assessing candidates' technical skills, so you can hire quantitative and qualitative researchers with confidence.
Training
Training for the people who commission, judge and act on evidence, and for the teams who produce it. It draws on leading research functions at Black Thrive and the RSA, and on teaching research methods at the LSE (average teaching score 4.6/5). Delivered in-house as a single session, a short series or a programme, and built around your organisation’s own data and decisions.
Evidence for leaders
For senior leadership teams, boards, funders and commissioners.

- Race and equalities data What your data can and can’t tell you about inequality, and how to act on it.
- Building an evidence-led organisation Setting up research, evaluation and learning that informs strategy rather than sitting on a shelf.
Methods training
For research, evaluation, policy and analysis teams.
- Quantitative Data and Analysis Practical data analysis, from first steps to reproducible workflows.
- Qualitative Data and Analysis From interview design to robust thematic analysis.
- Mixed-methods and evaluation design Bringing numbers and stories together deliberately, from logic model to findings.

People with lived experience shape the research, not just respond to it.
Mixed methods by design
The numbers and the stories, brought together deliberately.
